The Last Miner's Ghost

If you stand perfectly still and listen past the sound of your own heartbeat, you can almost hear the rhythmic strike of a pickaxe against the far wall. This mine was abandoned nearly a hundred years ago when the water began to seep in, reclaiming the tunnels for the earth. The miners left behind their tools and their dreams, but the "Fool’s Gold" on the ceiling remains—a taunting reminder of the riches that were always just an inch too deep to reach.
