A World for the Small

To us, this is a beautiful garden feature, but to a beetle or a salamander, this is a treacherous and magnificent canyon. Beneath those mossy overhangs are hidden caves where the air is always cool and damp. Every fallen leaf that catches on a rock is a bridge or a raft. When we change our perspective—getting low to the ground as this photo does—we start to see the epic scale of the "small" world.
